Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercedes-Benz Group.
Intern
It was a pretty easy interview process. I met with a team of 4 people, including the recruiter and two engineers, plus another intern. We covered some basic manufacturing questions, talked about bottlenecking, and went over my resume. There were also questions about Lean Six Sigma and its principles. It was very straightforward, not many technical questions, mostly scenario-based.
- Can you share an instance where you applied DMAIC principles?
- Could you explain basic manufacturing questions?
- What is bottlenecking?
Student Worker
First there was a company and department introduction, then I had to introduce myself. I talked about my 3 most important stations, why I chose Mercedes, and if I could imagine working in other departments too. I told them about my most successful project and experiences from mini-jobs. We discussed how I handle pressure and what my hobbies are. Finally, they asked about which parts list and which component: the blind spot assistant.
- Tell me about challenges in your studies and your favorite subjects.
Intern
It was pretty chill! Since it was to fill a position that became available, my process was quick, so it wasn't like the usual Internship Program. It lasted about 2 weeks: First, I had an interview with HR through a partner consultancy, and then I had an in-person interview with the manager, and I got the feedback (and approval) the same day. My tip for you is to lead the interview as much as the recruiters do, so bring questions that add value to the opportunity.
- Tell me a little more about yourself.
- Do you have a command of X language?
- What do you know about the company and why Mercedes?
