First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercedes-Benz Group.
Data Scientist Intern
It was one virtual interview for the internship. The atmosphere was relaxed. The interview was partly in German and partly in English. They asked easy questions about my prior work and university studies, and one brainteaser about the number of cars sold worldwide.
- What was the worldwide car sales figure for 2020?
Data Scientist
The hiring process involved several interviews with different company stakeholders. Notably, no direct team members were involved, and there was a complete absence of a technical interview. The process began with a recruiter call where the procedure was explained and the position's general conditions were outlined. Subsequent rounds focused primarily on my background, motivation, and alignment with the department's broader objectives. The final stage was a meeting with the Department Manager, concentrating on the role's strategic direction, responsibilities, and leadership expectations. Overall, the process provided a good understanding of the position's organizational context, but left questions about concrete collaboration within the future team and the role's technical depth.
- What are your thoughts on the future development of AI?
Data Scientist
I had an online interview with a manager and an HR person. They seemed very friendly. We started with 5 minutes of small talk, then moved on to questions about my resume. They asked about my experience in the auto industry, my experience with time series and sensor data, and how I handle anomalies.
