Found the job online, it was listed on craigslist, duties and expectations were briefly described, compensation was 'to be discussed'. I sent my resume and a cover letter explaining how my background, although not directly related, could still be beneficial. I got a call the very next day, within 24 hours, and they asked me to come in the following day to interview with the GM. I have a BS in fields that aren't related to HR and I don't have any HR experience.

I applied online and got a call the very next day for an interview. It was mostly about personality. I did well. They asked me to get my Work Number report. It was late in the week, and by the time I could get it on Monday, they had already promoted someone from within. I'm not sure why they couldn't verify my work history. Make sure you have your job history report ready for the interview.
