Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Research Associate
I applied online a while back, and honestly forgot about it. Then, unexpectedly, I got a call for an interview. I went in with my resume, showed my interest. After that, they called me for a second interview. Later that week, I had to fill out more paperwork about my references and sign some consent forms, and then I got the job offer.
- Tell me about your weaknesses.
Research Associate
The interview process was very intensive; they scheduled to see 14 scientists from 9am to 4pm. There were a lot of specific questions related to the job. This included 1:1 interviews, ground interviews, and having lunch with group members. Be positive and motivated, and ask some questions to show you're nice and impressive.
- Could you introduce yourself?
Research Associate
I applied through a recruiter at my university. She contacted me shortly after we met at the job fair. After a two-month waiting period where my attempts to follow up were unsuccessful due to the recruiter leaving, I had to restart the entire application process. The interview process involved three parts: a phone call to assess my Spanish proficiency, followed by two additional interviews with four different interviewers.
- What makes you confident that patients would be comfortable with you?
