First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Office Coordinator
First up was a phone call with the recruiter, pretty easy, just asking about my interest in the job. Then, an online interview with three managers, who asked more stuff from my resume and why I wanted the job. They threw in some behavioral questions too. Got the offer a couple weeks later. It was a really quick and smooth process.
- Why do you want to join Memorial Sloan Kettering?
- Why are you interested in working at Memorial Sloan Kettering?
Project Coordinator
I had two managers ask me questions back and forth. After that, I met with a project coordinator who seemed nervous and probably hadn't interviewed anyone before. The whole thing lasted almost 2 hours. It was a pretty laid-back interview, and I was still interested in the job afterwards. Unfortunately, I later found out they hired the director's niece, who had just graduated college and had no experience, even though I had been working at Memorial Sloan Kettering for 8 years. I thought it was pretty unprofessional and sneaky.
- Can you explain why manholes are typically round?
- Who would be your single guest for dinner, and why?
Office Coordinator
I got contacted by the company super fast, just 2 hours after applying. The whole interview process moved really quickly and smoothly. I had an info session via Zoom with the recruiter, and then a phone screening interview later that week. After that, I moved on to the next stages. In total, there were 3 interviews. The second one was with the Assistant Manager and Team Lead, and my final interview was with the Doctor. They focus a lot on situational questions, so it's good to have your past work experiences ready and practice using the STAR method to answer them. It was a great experience overall; everyone was really nice and the process was smooth.
- What makes you want to join MSK?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- Can you share an experience you've had...?
