First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Meltwater.
Business Development Intern
The interview was really welcoming and relaxed because it was for an entry-level position. I really enjoyed learning about the company's culture and values, and also their products and company structure. There was a lot of networking involved.
- What is your greatest weakness?
Business Development Consultant
I applied through LinkedIn and the company website. The first step was an initial phone interview, which felt like a screening. It was a casual chat where I discussed my background and my interest in the role. They seemed pleased I was looking for a sales-focused position, as that's the main focus for the first year. After that, I got invited to their office for a 'Meet Meltwater' event. This was a group session with about 15-20 other candidates, held at their office, with some drinks and pastries provided. I managed to chat briefly with a senior staff member despite the crowded environment. Then there was a presentation about Meltwater, its history, values, clients, and products, given by several employees who shared their career journeys and highlighted the training program's benefits. Some candidates stayed late to network. I noticed one employee working very late. The staff were friendly and informative, but the interaction felt one-sided. The next step was a group interview at a hotel. It was a formal setting, so dressing up was advised. A Regional Director attended this session, which included a 1.5-hour presentation covering Meltwater's strengths, growth, values, and opportunities, reiterating much of what was already said. Employees shared their inspiring stories. The actual role details remained vague, with the 'International Management Trainee' title not reflecting the initial year's focus on cold-calling and telesales. After a break, we introduced ourselves, focusing on personality. Then, we were split into groups to brainstorm a company that could benefit from Meltwater products and present it. The final part involved describing our passions, where I felt some candidates tried too hard.

Business Development
I went through three full interviews with Meltwater, and after all that time and effort, I never received a single response — not even a courtesy reply. This is completely unprofessional and shows a total lack of respect for candidates. Wasting candidates’ time like this is unacceptable. I strongly advise reconsidering applying here unless they fix their candidate communication.
- How would you manage a difficult client scenario under strict deadlines?
