First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Meltwater.
Enterprise Account Executive
It was a long and extensive process. It involved traveling for an in-person meeting and completing a full assignment. This assignment included creating a pitch deck from scratch and then presenting it. After all that, I was ghosted and they said they were 'unsure if they wanted to add headcount'. Felt like a very disrespectful process.
- Can you walk me through your typical deal process?

First, there was a short phone screening with a national recruiter, lasting about 5-10 minutes, where they asked about my background, why I was interested in sales, and why Meltwater. They also gave a brief overview of the company. Then, I had a longer phone interview with the local managing director, about 15-20 minutes, focusing more on my background, experiences, skills, and how they relate to the role. I also had to explain my perspective on the product, the company's position, and why I was drawn to Meltwater and this sales role. Following that, I was invited to a group interview at the Montreal office. Five of us candidates met with five Meltwater employees (two sales managers, the managing director, someone from customer retention, and the national manager). We received a company presentation and had a Q&A session. We then introduced ourselves and shared a significant experience. After a coffee break and a chance to see the office and chat with employees, we were divided into teams for a group pitch exercise where we had to convince a fictional board to buy Meltwater's product. After the group pitch, we engaged in a speed debate in two teams. Finally, each of us pitched a personal passion. This group part lasted about two hours. Afterward, we waited for individual interviews, which were more in-depth, covering our history and experience, including a mock pitch, and discussions about the role and workload with four of the previous interviewers. They also inquired about managerial experience and asked for my hiring recommendations for the other candidates I met, with justifications. My personal interview lasted nearly another two hours. They were very aware of negative reviews online and even acknowledged them, while emphasizing that the role involves a lot of work and that the team is quite close-knit. Many questions were either provided beforehand or mentioned in other reviews.

Applied online and heard back after a few weeks. First, a HR called to learn about my background and tell me more about the company. It was a nice experience, the HR was friendly and happy to share details about the product. Then, about a week later, I had a phone interview with the line manager where we learned more about each other. The interview felt relaxed and comfortable, allowing me to speak freely. The overall vibe was fun. After that, I was invited for an on-site interview with the same line manager and another Account Executive. We toured the office and chatted for a bit. The questions were similar to before but more focused on specific situations. During the interview, I got a sense of whether my personality fit the company culture. For me, it felt like the line manager and I might not have the right connection.
- Can you describe the key performance indicators for your daily tasks?
