Patient Care Technician
i applied on the company website and then next week i got an email to set up a phone call. it was a 25 min phone call, she asked me questions about myself and then scheduled an on site interview to meet with higher ups.
- Why are you interested in working at GUH?
- Can you share a career highlight or something you're proud of?
- Could you tell me about yourself and your experience?
Clinical Research Coordinator
The interview process started with a 45-minute phone call where the interviewer really stressed the poor work-life balance, long commutes to satellite clinics, and the sometimes difficult personalities of surgeons who might yell at or insult staff. This was followed by a 90-minute in-person interview with the same interviewer, who was quite rude and unprofessional, chewing gum, looking at her computer, and texting, which interrupted the conversation twice. I then met with the lead principal investigator for transplant medicine. We discussed my professional background and achievements, and he provided more details about the role. Finally, I spoke with the Research Coordinators. They were primarily interested in my regulatory experience. One of them contradicted some of the information from the phone interview, particularly regarding the extremely long commutes. I was told at the end that everyone was very impressed and hoped I would contact them soon. I did, with multiple follow-up emails, but have not received a response, even to be told I wasn't selected, which caused me to miss out on two other job opportunities.
- Can you discuss Hepatocellular carcinoma?
- Mostly behavioral questions.
Registered Nurse
The recruiter reached out for more information and was really nice and welcoming. I spoke with her first, and then I interviewed on the unit. I interviewed with 3 managers on the unit, and the whole interview took about 1.5 hours. After that, the managers gave me a tour of the unit and then walked me back to the recruiter. The whole process was great, everyone was super friendly and helped calm my nerves. I'd definitely recommend interviewing at MedStar Georgetown.
- Can you tell me about a challenging patient scenario you encountered and how you handled it?
- Please share an instance where you had to manage conflict among colleagues at work.
Director
Started with some initial screeners, then a series of individual zoom interviews. The process finished with a full day of onsite interviews with different people and teams. It was well organized and professional. However, it's been 3 weeks since the onsite interviews and I haven't heard anything back from the hospital. It's disappointing, feels like their core values of Integrity and Respect are just for current employees.
- We're looking for people who plan to stay with the hospital for a significant amount of time; can you commit to that?
