First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MedRisk.
Claims Representative
First, I had an initial call with a recruiter. Before that, I had to complete online customer service and typing tests. The following week, I went for an in-person interview at MedRisk. The supervisor there asked typical interview questions. About a week later, I got the job offer. Then I had to complete an online background check form, which was quite straightforward. The check cleared in two days. I also had to take a drug test; they gave me three weeks, which was unusual, but I did it within three days to get it done.
- Can you explain your reasons for seeking new employment?
- Tell me about a situation where you encountered a challenging customer.
- If you had to pick three words to describe yourself, what would they be?
.NET Applications Developer
This interview was for a .Net application developer role on their insurance processing software. The interview was about thirty minutes long, conducted over Zoom with three company representatives. It covered basic C# programming and SQL development questions. There was also time for me to ask about the company, its culture, and technology stack. The interview was pleasant, and I felt I performed well. They mentioned getting back to my recruiter in about a week with feedback and a decision. However, four weeks passed with no follow-up, the position was closed on their website, and my recruiter was told they were unresponsive to all feedback attempts. While I'm okay with not being a fit or if they found someone else, their decision to ghost candidates and recruiters is unprofessional and would only take five minutes to avoid. This experience suggests Medrisk might ghost job seekers, which raises concerns about their commitment to software development projects. Their decision to schedule an interview, make a decision, and then not communicate highlights their transactional approach to working with others. It's like their insurance business: eager to sell plans but unresponsive when a claim is needed.
- Questions covered general knowledge of both C# and SQL.
Customer Service Professional
I started with a staffing agency, and they had me take a Microsoft and typing test. Then I went to the company's main building for the interview. I went upstairs to the second floor, did some paperwork, and then met with the Manager and a Team Lead. They told me about the company and the teams that were hiring. The team lead asked me some questions. It was a really nice and pleasant experience. I got a call later that day with a job offer.
- Can you tell me what makes you a better candidate than the others?
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your customer service skills?
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how well can you multitask?
Claims Specialist
I interviewed with two people, one focused on claims and the other on customer service. It was a pretty personable chat and lasted about an hour. They really liked that I knew exactly what the company does. They asked me to share a time a coworker made a mistake that I had to handle. I told them I always see coworker mistakes as a company issue, not an individual one, because there's no point in speaking negatively about someone on the same team.
