Behavioral Technical System Design

Had a phone screen with the recruiter first, then went through 2 rounds of technical interviews. The first technical round was with an Enterprise Architect where I got some easy technical questions and aced them. The second technical round was with the Director, who seemed pretty junior for his role and didn't really know what he was looking for, but I still answered his design questions perfectly. Honestly, it felt like they were gaslighting me, so I'd say either steer clear of this company or don't get your hopes up for an offer.

Behavioral Technical

The whole thing was pretty fast. First, a recruiter chatted with me about my history and what I wanted money-wise. The pay they offered was way lower than market, but I kept going just to see. Second, I talked to the head of engineering and another manager. They asked me a mix of behavioral and easy technical questions, going back and forth. Third was just like the second, but with a different manager. The questions were pretty much the same, so I'm not sure why they did it. During the interviews, they tried to explain why the Glassdoor reviews are so bad, but their reasons were shallow and mostly blamed COVID. It didn't help that the most tenured person I met had only been there 18 months, and my research showed a lot of talk about layoffs. I also got a weird vibe from the head of engineering, who kept bringing up their past FAANG experience at least three times. Because of all this, I turned down the offer.

I had a great experience interviewing. It took a little over a week and had two interviews. The first one was with a Senior Corporate Recruiter and they were really upfront and helpful, and just nice to chat with. The second and last interview was about 8 days later, done over video with a Director and the local Manager. Everyone I met was nice, professional, helpful, and responsive. I got my job offer less than 24 hours after the last interview. The questions seemed to be about whether I would be a good personal fit. My advice is to be honest and be yourself.

I had a recruiter call for the company. The recruiter was really positive and passionate about the company, and the conversation was super positive. They told me about the next steps for the application process. I emailed them to say thanks and that I was still interested. But then, even after I followed up two more times to see where things stood, the recruiter ghosted me. It's not hard to just reply and say no, with or without feedback. I felt it was disrespectful and didn't match the company values they said they had.
