Software Engineer
It was a series of interviews. First, a phone call. Then an in-person interview with data structures exercises, then a design interview, and finally an interview with the team manager.
- Two Sum, with extra questions at the end.
- Design of a web crawler
Software Engineer
I first met the recruiter at a career fair, and then got a HackerRank challenge. After that, there was one Skype interview, and then the final round had 4 Skype interviews. These included technical talks with engineers, a culture interview, and a regular technical interview. Everyone I talked to was really passionate about their job, which was super compelling. The conversations were engaging and they seemed genuinely interested in me. The recruiters kept in touch and were clear about what to expect, even calling before the final round to brief me. It was a positive experience, and I'm looking forward to joining!
- Questions related to data structures and algorithms.
- A question involving Linux regular expressions.
- The HackerRank challenge had some cool questions.
Software Engineer
The interview process seemed to be quite long: 1 Technical screening, 3 On site technical evaluations, and 1 "Cultural" interview. It started with an interview with a polite person from the UK who passed my CV to the team in Argentina. This was done over Skype and was a typical HR interview. Then, I had a technical screening via Skype where I had to do some basic programming involving arrays and algorithms, which lasted about an hour. The next step was almost identical but in person at the Medallia offices in Buenos Aires. It involved solving an array algorithm to determine if a point was inside a closed geometric figure. Everything was going well until I got an email from the Buenos Aires HR team stating they couldn't reach me by phone on a Friday and a Monday (which sounds a bit odd). I just got an email saying they were stopping the interview process without giving any specific reasons. I found this very unprofessional and disrespectful. They could have at least provided a more detailed explanation like "we ran out of money", "you asked for too much money", "you didn't pass the tests as expected", "you don't fit our snobist culture", or anything else. This isn't my first interview, and although I have better offers, I'll never consider applying to Medallia or recommend it. This is not how professionals should be treated.
- Could you explain and develop an algorithm using a boolean array to determine if a point is inside a closed geometric figure?
