Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Medallia.
Talent Acquisition Specialist
It took about 3 weeks and 3 interview rounds to complete the hiring process. The last round was a Challenge round where I had to show how I'd handle job-specific tasks. The interviews and Challenge presentation took a lot of time, and there was a lot of waiting between rounds while they reviewed candidates. After the Challenge round, I was told they decided to hire internally for both open TA roles - one from a contractor and one from another department which happened unexpectedly. Given that this company claims to focus on customer and employee experience, this whole process felt off, especially when they didn't even consider internal candidates first before putting external applicants through weeks of interviews and a Challenge. It seems like they wasted everyone's time with multiple interview rounds and a Challenge presentation when they weren't really planning to hire any external candidates.
- You'll need to dedicate several hours to a Challenge presentation to showcase your job qualifications and effectively give them free leads or case samples.
Talent Coordinator
I learned about the job from my friend on the Talent Acquisition team. After we talked a lot about the role and company, I figured I should apply. The whole thing took about 3 days because I had another offer and they hurried things up for me, which was super nice of them. So, first I had a phone interview with the recruiter. Then, the next day, I had a Skype interview with someone from Talent Acquisition. They also sent me a challenge assignment to prepare for the final interview, which I presented onsite to 4 team members/leaders the day after. I also had some 1 on 1 chats with the hiring manager and two people from the People & Culture team. I really liked talking with them, and the whole process was smooth.
- What initiatives would you implement to enhance the candidate experience if financial constraints were not a factor?
Recruiting Coordinator
I applied online and the whole process took over a month. First, I had an initial phone screen with Russell, a coordinator. Then, I had another phone interview with Anne, also a coordinator. After that, I had a Skype interview with Amit. Finally, I was invited onsite for about 3 hours, where I met with two people individually and completed a challenge exercise. They even provided lunch. Unfortunately, despite all the time invested, I didn't get an offer and wasn't given a clear reason why. It was a good experience though, and I'd still love to work at Medallia.
- What would you do if a candidate doesn't show up for their interview, and what's your thought process behind that?
- How would you handle a situation where two interviewers fail to submit their candidate evaluations on time, and how would you ensure they get submitted?

Approach it with an open mind; these questions won't be standard interview questions, but rather ones designed to explore your ways of thinking. You'll likely encounter many 'why' questions, for instance, asking about your passions and then following up with 'Why do you have this passion?'”
