Engagement Manager
So, I was interviewing for a customer experience role at a CEM company, and the process felt like a real-life example of CEM principles. They say one bad experience can ruin a customer's perception, no matter how many good ones came before. That's pretty much what happened to me. I actually enjoyed the whole interview journey until the very last bit. Things took a turn for the worse after my final interview. I was left hanging for about two weeks without any feedback, which was unusual since I normally heard back within a day or two. To make it even more awkward, the call came at a completely unexpected time. We had agreed on Monday evening, but I got the call on Friday evening while I was swamped with work at the office, making it really hard to have a proper conversation. The news was that I didn't get through the final round. But my issue isn't with the rejection itself. It's more about the communication: the two-week delay in updates, the inconvenient timing of the call, and the vague reasons for not being selected, which didn't align with what I'd been told throughout the earlier stages. The person I spoke with even used the same two points as both my strengths and weaknesses, which seemed contradictory. She also mentioned budget changes, leading me to question if the position was even available or if it had already been filled. I still respect Medallia and their work, but that brief six-minute final call left a sour note on what was otherwise an amazing two-month experience.

Engagement Manager
Medallia did a great job with the interview process. They scheduled a series of one-hour interviews, including six one-on-one sessions, one session with two interviewers, and one session with three interviewers. They also included a one-hour culture interview to assess how well I'd fit in. I also completed a Medallia challenge that took over 5 hours, which involved analyzing some data and exhibits based on a few scenarios. Finally, they ran three reference checks, two from managers and one from another professional contact.
- Could you describe a difficult problem you successfully resolved?
- Tell me about a time when you had to manage conflict within your team.
Engagement Manager
Got referred by an employee, recruiter called within hours and I had a phone screen with them shortly after. Then had another phone interview with a Senior Manager within a few days. After 4 weeks (reasonable considering holidays), I heard back from the recruiter about a take-home challenge. It's now been over 5 weeks with no response, despite me checking in 4 times weekly. The last two times, no response at all. I can't believe a professional services firm is so unprofessional and unresponsive. I got back from an international trip and did the challenge over a weekend. The least they could do is communicate if they're not proceeding. I had heard great things about Medallia and was excited, but this experience has left me with poor regards for the company. This reflects poorly on Medallia overall.
- Can you tell me about the most challenging job you've ever had?
- Share an instance where you had to manage a conflict at work.
