The whole thing kicked off with a quick 15-minute chat with a manager to see if I fit the basic mold. Then, another manager and I talked for an hour. They really wanted to hear my 'story' – the whole professional and personal journey. It was cool because it wasn't just about ticking boxes, but understanding me as a person. After that, I tackled a tech challenge focused on predictive analytics. The final step was four interviews at the Medallia office. It wasn't super tough, but definitely get ready to prep on customer experience management, using Excel for predictive analytics, your life story and the choices you've made, simplifying complicated stuff (like explaining it to your grandma), and how you think about growing personally and professionally. (Quick tip: check out Carol Dweck's 'Mindset' book since Medallia is all about growth mindset and wants people like that.) Everyone I met was really nice, helpful, and seemed genuinely interested in me as a person.

The interview was in person with two members of the team. I thought I was applying for an analyst position, which seemed like a good fit for my temperament, but the more senior interviewer had other plans upon my arrival. They thought I could be useful in a public-facing role, which unfortunately was the part of my current job I disliked the most. My lack of enthusiasm for this higher-level position that I hadn't applied for seemed to disqualify me from the job I actually wanted. It was a bit surreal.

Applied online and got contacted by a Medallia recruiter. We had a 30 min call where they learned about my interests and I learned about the company. A few days later, I was scheduled for a 60 min interview with a team member. This interview was a mix of behavioral and functional questions. They asked about my stats background and past analyses. It felt like a structured conversation. The interviewer talked about her daily work and team challenges. Then, I got invited to a 24 hour Medallia Challenge. The assignment was clear, and I could ask questions. It was tough but showed they care about problem-solving evaluation. After submitting, I had final round interviews: three 60 min Skype calls. Two were functional interviews with team and product members, and one was a culture interview about my motivations. The next day, I was told I passed and the next step was a reference check (2 professional, 1 personal). I told the recruiter about other offers, and she was fast. The recruiter stayed in touch and was available for questions. I was sold by the time I got the offer. The interview process was efficient, and it seems like a great place to work. Can't wait to start!
