First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McKinley, Inc..
Community Manager
The interview process was really straightforward. They seem to be really eager to hire, so it wasn't challenging at all. Honestly, someone with basic customer service experience could have handled it. It felt very relaxed, and I pretty much felt hired after the first conversation.
- Can you define Customer Service?
- Describe the significance of customer service.
- Elaborate on customer service being an action rather than just a phrase.
Community Manager
It was a scripted phone interview. I feel like this kind of interview isn't the best way to screen people out. I've got great experience and references, but I didn't even get a chance for an in-person interview. I can only assume I didn't say certain words or phrases they were looking for. I've never thought of myself as a superstar interviewer, but I'm even worse over the phone because I think you really see what someone's made of when you meet them in person, and I'm more relaxed then.
- Can you explain how your management style contributes to increased community occupancy and revenue?
- What are your strategies for handling delinquency?
- What marketing methods have you used for properties?
Community Manager
I applied and after about two weeks, the hiring manager, who was a regional property manager for my area, reached out via email. She asked if I was still interested, and upon my affirmative response, she requested interview times. The interview occurred two days later at a different site than the one I applied for, as they were planning to terminate a manager at the actual position's location. I attended the interview, which I felt went very well, lasting 1.5 hours and being quite informative and detailed. I was given a formal application to complete and email back, along with a typed reference sheet. The day after the interview, I received an email stating they had chosen another candidate.
- Tell me about the most challenging situation you've faced in your role as a property manager.
