First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MCI.
Director of Learning
I was referred by someone at MCI. First, I talked to HR, then I interviewed with MCI staff who handle the account. It seemed to go well, and they said I'd hear back within 10 days. I didn't hear anything, so I followed up with the second interviewer after two weeks, and then again after four weeks. After five weeks, I followed up with the HR person, who quickly and politely let me know they had just filled the position. I never heard back from the person who promised to update me. I'm not sure if this reflects the company culture or just one person.
- Tell me about a time you led a team through a period of change.
Social Media Manager
Had an initial chat with HR that went well. After that, I was asked to do a technical test. The technical test was quite long, taking about 3 to 5 hours to complete all the exercises. I submitted my technical test, and then I heard nothing back. Even though I didn't move forward, after dedicating over 6 hours to this recruitment process, the least they could do is send a rejection email.
- Why do you want to join our company?
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your salary expectations?
Social Media Executive
My experience interviewing with this company was disappointing and lacked the professionalism and “human-first” values they promote. From the beginning, the process felt disorganized and impersonal. There was no initial screening call from HR or a recruiter to introduce the role and establish rapport. Instead, the interview launched abruptly into technical questions with no warm-up or effort to connect personally, which created a chaotic and unstructured tone. Throughout the process, the pre-interview communication was sparse and unclear. I was given little guidance on how to prepare for each step, often needing to follow up to ask about it myself. Even then, what little information I received was inconsistent. For instance, they mentioned specific questions and topics—like discussing an assignment I completed and talking about AI—that were never actually addressed in the interview. I was also given feedback implying that I didn’t seem collaborative, which was surprising given that there were no questions to assess my teamwork skills. The entire interview focused solely on individual work, missing an opportunity to evaluate my collaborative abilities—something I consistently practiced in my previous role. As someone who has managed recruitment at my prior job, I’ve seen how much more professional and cohesive a structured, human-centered approach can be. This process, unfortunately, left the opposite impression—disorganized, cold, and unprofessional. To add to this, I sensed an attitude issue among the interviewers, who seemed disengaged, as if they didn’t want to be there and were merely completing a task. This lack of enthusiasm further contributed to a poor experience. Don't bother.
- Can you share details about a campaign you managed?
- How would you go about prioritizing when faced with multiple tasks simultaneously?
Administrative Assistant
The interview included a self-introduction, typical questions about strengths and weaknesses, and expectations. There was also an English monologue and a presentation of the company/workplace. I had the opportunity to ask my own questions. It was a very friendly and pleasant conversation. I would apply again. The role just wasn't a perfect fit.
- Could you tell us something in English? (Any topic)
