First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MCI Group Of Companies.
Consultant
It was a mass interview but still felt personalized. There were 2 rounds of interviews depending on the role I applied for. The application process (job application form, personality tests) were given on the spot. The interview questions were scenario-based and situational-based.
- What do you understand about this role specifically, and what are your expectations for it?
Human Resources Executive
I had an interview with the company boss. He first asked me to talk about myself, which I did by describing my work experience and qualifications. He then criticized me for stopping talking, saying that interviewees shouldn't stop talking so the interviewer can assess them, and that this is an HR role, not sales. He felt I shouldn't need 20-30 minutes for one question. He then questioned my salary expectation of just over 3k, saying he could hire a fresh graduate for less and suggested I lower my expected pay even below my current salary. He promised a high bonus, but it didn't sound believable. He also mentioned that staff are not allowed more than 2 MC days per year and those who take more will be announced to the company via email. He asked about my free time activities, and after I mentioned watching dramas and playing computer games, he dismissed them as a waste of time. I disagreed, as that would imply any hobby is a waste of time. At the end, he asked me to consider lowering my pay for the role, implying I'd get the job if I agreed. The whole experience was very unprofessional and the boss seemed very money-minded and lacked empathy for staff, which is surprising for a recruitment firm. I ultimately rejected his offer.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
- What makes you want to leave your current job?
- Would you be open to accepting a lower salary than you currently earn?
Recruitment Specialist
The interview process felt a little harder than usual, especially when they gave me the questionnaire. But the recruiters were nice and said I could leave questions blank if I didn't know the answer. The face-to-face interview involved them explaining the company's background, its divisions, and business units. The goal was to learn more about my background, experience, and personality to see if I'd be a good fit for the role. Since it had been a while since my last interview, I was a bit nervous and didn't answer perfectly, but it was a good chat about recruitment. I learned a lot and got a better sense of the recruitment field, which made me more confident for future interviews.
- What prompted you to leave your current job?
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- How do you feel about making cold calls?
Business Development
I just finished a phone call interview with the HR manager. I think the HR manager was nice and polite. She was patient answering my questions about the job and explained the KPIs, commission, and the exam needed for the role.
- Can you tell me what about your previous experience is relevant to this role?
