First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McDermott.
Graduate Electrical Engineer
The first round was technical with competency questions from the teams, which went well, but the interviewer was a bit demotivating. After that, I was invited for an HR interview in person, but they didn't even offer to cover travel expenses. The interview itself went well, but then they ghosted me.
- How are your communication skills?
- Can you discuss electrical engineering basics?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult colleague.
Senior Electrical Engineer
The interview was super welcoming. The person interviewing me was really nice, knew their stuff technically, and was calming and helpful with info about the company and the job. HR and the recruiter were great too, helping set up the chats and the in-person interview.
- Technical question about designing HV electrical distribution systems, including drawing SLDs, and discussing those drawings with the interviewer.
Electrical Engineer
Everything was going fine at first, but the technical part of the interview got really hard for me to answer.
- Could you explain what an inductor is for?
