First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at McAfee.
Software QA Engineer
Scheduled 2nd round after 15 days. Multiple re-schedules of interview discussions occurred after I mentioned that the interviewer was not available in the meeting to discuss. First round with QA Lead focused on linux, networking, and python programming. Second round after 15 days with 2 Sr. QA Engineers: Interviewer asked if I am interested in perl, I said yes for short term and python preferred for long term automation, and interview discussion completed saying there is no point in further discussion. Overall it was a disappointing experience.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Linux, networking, and programming?
- How would you install HTTP servers?
- How would you install SMTP servers?
Software QA Engineer
McAfee HR reached out to me directly to start things off. I applied for a Python automation role. They provided feedback after each round and scheduled everything. We had 4 technical interviews, then a discussion with the Hiring Manager, and finally an HR discussion focused solely on compensation. The HR person handling the hiring wasn't fully informed about the specific role details or the expected salary range. It's crucial to clarify the role/title and desired CTC before beginning the interviews. All the technical rounds were solid and relevant to the job.
- Can you explain Python basics, data types, and data structures like lists, tuples, and dictionaries, including their methods?
- Could you write Python programs and discuss complexity algorithms using different methods?
- Do you have knowledge of data structures such as Queue, Stack, and Linked List?
Software QA Engineer
Got an interview call via employee referral. The first round was a phone interview where they tested my basic testing knowledge, QA processes, scripting skills, and OS concepts. About a week later, I was invited for a 1:1 interview, which had 4 rounds in total, each focusing on different skills. They presented me with some scenarios and asked me to write test cases. Some simple puzzles were also part of it.
- Can you explain what daemon processes are in an operating system?
- Could you solve a puzzle involving crossing a river with constraints on time and the number of cannibals and humans?
