First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maze.
Account Executive
The interview process began with a recruiter screening call, followed by interviews with the hiring manager and a C-suite executive. The final stage involved a role play or presentation before a decision was made. The recruiter outlined the entire process, including the number of stages and expected timelines. Salary expectations were also discussed during this initial call to ensure alignment before a potential offer. The communication was very clear throughout, making the process feel smooth and professional, which I believe reflects the company's culture and values.

Marketing
I applied for the job and the interview was set up super fast. The person setting up the interview wouldn't tell me their title even when I asked them via email. I figured they were HR but was surprised the interview was on Zoom instead of a call. They forgot to include the Zoom link in the invite and it took over 24 hours to get the right link on the day of the interview. The interview got cancelled an hour before it was supposed to start because of a double booking, and they rescheduled it for 5:30 PM that same day, but it got cancelled again. Finally, I talked to the recruiter (found out on the call) and the interview went really well. They said they'd schedule me with the hiring manager but I never heard back and they didn't reply to my email asking about scheduling. It was a really unprofessional and disappointing interview experience, especially since the job market is so tough right now!
- Can you describe your current role?
Full Stack Developer
First I had a call with a recruiter who told me all about the company, the tech they use, and the teams. They explained each interview step super clearly, making it seem really organized. They even sent me study stuff beforehand. After that, I had a tech interview with one of the developers. We did a live coding thing in React, which was pretty simple, just fetching and showing data. They mostly wanted to chat about React and frontend development, which was cool. The next part was a Karat interview, done by an outside company. It felt like a timed test. First, I picked two subjects from a list and answered three questions for each. Then, there were two coding problems: one was about refactoring a function with new JS syntax, and the other involved some object-oriented code where I had to explain an error. Finally, there was an algorithm challenge. I got rejected a week later, but the next step was supposed to be a chat with the CTO.
- What's your approach to testing the component used in the live coding exercise?
- Could you explain the functionality of the useEffect hook?
- What strategies would you employ for optimizing website performance?
Software Engineer
PASSED The first stage was with their recruiter, who was the one who reached out to me. 30 mins call PASSED The third stage was with their internal engineer, the tech test took 40mins. PASSED The second stage was with a third party interviewing company called Karat. Tech test 1 hour. FAILED??????? The last stage was with their CTO Thomas, apparently, this was supposed to be a cultural fit interview. HOWEVER, he asked me technical questions, and he claimed that I failed to answer something with their internal engineer interview, but that didn't happen (or I was never told), he also asked me a question from the Karat interview which was the first question of more than 10 and it was 1min question. And the feedback that I got was that "I was not technically good". During the whole interview, he tried to prove me wrong about the things that I said about myself. Why have they arranged the final interview if I was technically not good? I checked their org chart, the Engineering team is all white male, and their recruiter told me that no one was asked technical questions on the final interview. Which brings a lot of questions!!!!!!!!! Their recruiter insisted on not sending me the feedback as an email and she forced me to arrange another call for the feedback, which is I assume so that I cannot use this as proof.
