Sales Manager
I feel it's a bit deceptive to advertise a role as 'training' when there's no set end date for the training period, which seems to be a way to suggest potential for advancement. They're also clever about how they discuss hours and pay separately; the monthly or yearly salary sounds appealing until you realize it's based on a 50-hour work week, which is what they told me to expect. Most people mentally calculate this on a 40-hour scale, making it seem like a much higher-paying job than it actually is, around $10-11 an hour.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experience?
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
Sales Manager
The hiring process was quite smooth and generally a pleasant experience. Initially, there's a phone chat with a recruiter. Following that, you'll connect with the district manager responsible for your territory. The next step involves an in-person meeting where you'll discuss sales-related topics, specific challenging situations you've faced, your personal career aspirations, and align them with the company's objectives. Overall, it was a very positive interview journey.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a specific situation with a supervisor or a guest and detail how you managed it?
- Could you describe a time when you experienced a setback or failure?
Sales Manager
I sent in my application online and got an email back pretty quickly from a recruiter. We set up a phone interview for a few days later, which lasted about 30 minutes. She seemed to think I was a good fit and then set up an in-person interview with the district manager. That interview was about an hour long. I heard back from him the same day with a job offer and details about my training, which was set to start two weeks later.
- Given that I'm in an accounting firm and need new pencils, and I've come to your store that only sells pens, can you sell me a pen?
