Had an interview with a senior engineer where we talked about my resume and past experiences, what the job responsibilities are, and stuff about the company. I got to ask my questions too, and they were nice. It was a pretty chill interview overall. It wasn't super technical, but we did chat about some technical subjects.

Matterport has a pretty detailed engineering interview process, it has around 7 stages. It includes different technical interview rounds and a round table interview with some people from different teams. It was a good process.

Had a first round with the hiring manager where we discussed projects I've worked on. Then, a second round was a panel of people asking me technical questions. They insisted I derive any answers from first principles, and they clearly had an answer they were looking for. When I failed to provide that answer, they just let me flail, providing no additional guidance. I asked them what is one change they'd make to the company - they said they started cutting fat but they need to continue cutting the dead weight. Yikes. At some point during the interview the interviewers started arguing about the best method to solve a problem. Double yikes.

This company is thorough and you'll meet with a lot of people before getting an offer. They really care about who they hire and if that person will be successful. They move fast - sometimes two, three, or four interviews happen in a single week, but I was scheduled for my 9th interview without an offer when I decided to withdraw. I met with a great recruiter, the hiring manager, several panel interviews with three people each, a live coding challenge in whatever language I wanted, an interview with the engineering manager and a developer, the product owner, and the quality leader. Everyone was on time, professional, kind, and engaged, and they gave me time to ask questions. I eventually decided that my skills wouldn't be quite the right fit for the role, so I'm actually thankful for their detailed process.
