Behavioral Technical Coding

It was a great interview process overall. I applied via LinkedIn with my CV and had an initial call with a recruiter. Then, I had a second call with an engineering manager. After that, I completed a take-home coding test where I had to review some code. The final stage involved a call with the same recruiter to discuss culture and values, and also with some senior/lead engineers for more technical questions. They seemed really focused on whether I'd be a good culture fit and if my values aligned, alongside the usual technical questions. All the interview stages felt more like a conversation about the company and the role rather than just being asked questions.

Technical Behavioral

Matillion's hiring process had three stages - an initial video interview, a technical exercise, and then a second video interview. Throughout both interviews, I was interviewed by the people I would be working with. The atmosphere of the interviews was friendly, and it was obvious that in spite of its rapid growth, the team was maintaining a healthy company culture. The questions covered a range of technical, process, and team culture topics. The technical exercise was not difficult; rather it provided plenty of room to demonstrate sound architecture, designing abstractions, documentation, code style, etc.. When I asked for some additional information, the CPO and VP of Engineering made time to meet with me on very short notice, which surprised me, but reinforced my choice to accept the role.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Had a few interviews online, including a personality test and an online skills test. Then, I had to go into the office for a full day of activities. This included team-building stuff, coding and technical tests, and interviews, like a quick "speed dating" style one and the main interview with my potential manager.
