First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MasTec.
Project Coordinator
It was an easy, straight-forward interview. They asked basic behavioral questions, nothing too challenging, so it was easy to prepare. The interview was in person. The whole process was pretty simple, just make sure you study the basics of an interview.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Project Coordinator
I was initially contacted by MasTec a few months ago about a similar role, but the recruiter gave me incorrect contact information, and I couldn't reach her. After two months, she called again with a non-working area code. I then went to their website and submitted an inquiry. The next day, she called me back. We talked about the job and my interest in leaving my current role. She seemed pleased and scheduled an interview at the Nashville office for the next day. The interview itself was fairly standard; I met two employees and was asked basic questions about the position. We also discussed their main customer, as I've worked with them before. The interview was thorough but short, under 30 minutes. They asked about my experience with Oracle (which I don't have) and my Excel proficiency (intermediate, not advanced). They also asked about my potential start date if offered the job. I shook hands and left. I got a verbal offer two days later and the written offer two business days after that. The process was very fast, though reaching the recruiter initially was the most challenging part. However, they had recently moved offices and changed numbers, so it was understandable.
- Can you describe a time when you couldn't get the necessary information from a boss or colleague to complete your work, and how you managed that situation?
- Do you have any experience working with Oracle?
- How would you describe your proficiency with Microsoft Excel?
Project Coordinator
Got an email about the interview. The process was simpler than I thought, no questions about my strengths or weaknesses, but more about my knowledge and expertise in Excel and Oracle. They made an offer on the spot. I tried to negotiate for a better offer and succeeded. However, negotiating for a higher salary is frowned upon.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Excel and Vlookups?
