First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MasTec.
Fiber Splicer
This company is completely unorganized and I've been rejected 4 times. They seem to have blackballed me. They said I asked for too much given my experience and certifications, even though the application stated $35/hr. They also claimed they weren't hiring anymore, despite their positions being posted for two more months, which makes no sense if they actually needed people. It really seems like they don't value their employees.
- Given that LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, and Indeed show rates up to $35/hr, how much were you expecting to earn as a fiber splicer with over 10 years of experience?
Project Coordinator
It was an easy, straight-forward interview. They asked basic behavioral questions, nothing too challenging, so it was easy to prepare. The interview was in person. The whole process was pretty simple, just make sure you study the basics of an interview.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Talent Acquisition Specialist
The interview process was pretty standard and felt easy. It started with an initial chat with the hiring manager, then there was a panel interview with the recruiting team, and finally, I spoke with the Director of talent acquisition. I did get an offer, but it wasn't enough for me to leave my current job.
- Can you describe your experience in recruiting and the techniques you use?
Business Analyst
Applied online and after about two and a half weeks, a recruiter reached out to set up a 30-minute phone call. We had that call the next day and it went really well; the recruiter thought my background was a good match. A few days later, I got scheduled for a video interview with the hiring manager. That also went well, mostly covering my resume. Following that, there was a panel interview. Initially, I was the only one with my camera on, but a few others eventually turned theirs on. Only two out of the six people asked questions, and one seemed pretty disengaged. It wasn't very technical, and they focused on my resume again. I waited two weeks to hear back that they decided to promote someone internally.
- Can you elaborate on your resume?
- Could you discuss the projects detailed on your resume?
