First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MassMutual.
Financial Advisor
I was referred by a recruiter to interview with a financial advisor for an in-office role. During the interview, several red flags came up. They asked about my citizenship, and when I said I am American, they implied that could not be true because of my last name. Later, after I mentioned that I speak another language, they said, “That’s great, we’ve been aiming to target that community,” which deeply disturbed me.
- What is your ethnic background?
- What is your citizenship?
- Do you speak [another language]?
Financial Advisor
We started with a video call to go over the role, then they invited me to come in for an in-person interview at the office. The in-person interview was a panel with several senior advisors or managers, plus some other current advisors.
- What draws you to a career in finance?
Financial Advisor
It was a long interview and background check. For experienced advisors who have a history of success in the industry, we basically guarantee them the job. The only downside is the quotas for our own products. It's a commission-based role, but we do offer some help getting experienced advisors started.
- Can you tell me about your production numbers from your last job?
