First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MassMutual.
Customer Service Specialist
I had a 30-minute phone interview scheduled. The recruiter was 12 minutes late, seemed distracted while I was answering questions, and then ended the interview early after only 9 minutes. After applying for another job because the first one was filled when I interviewed, the same recruiter immediately rejected me even though she told me to reapply.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with an unhappy customer.
Customer Service Representative
Got a call from a MassMutual recruiter about the call center job. They were really clear about the role, what it involves, and the timeline. They also mentioned pay, licensing requirements, and expectations. I had to complete two computer tests before an interview: a standard personality test and an in-role assessment to see how I'd handle a call center environment. Both took about 2-3 hours. After they got my scores, I was offered an interview with the hiring manager and director. It was short but informative, covering the first few months, licensing test prep, and scheduling. Then, we did the usual Q&A.
- How would you adjust to a customer service job in an area you don't know much about?
Customer Service Representative
Applied on Indeed.com and heard back from a recruiter within days. Had an initial 30-minute phone interview which was super informative. Next, I had to do some assessments covering math, customer service, and personality. A few days after that, I got a call saying I passed the exams and was set up for an in-person interview with a manager. The manager was really nice and the interview went great. The whole thing took over a month, but that was because it was during the holidays.
- How would you deal with a client who is upset?
