It was a very relaxed interview because the interviewer was friendly, approachable, and conversational. This helped me feel less nervous, encouraged an open dialogue, and allowed me to give clear, confident responses without feeling rushed or pressured.

The first round was easy. I could tell they are really looking for someone with a great financial foundation, not someone with basics. Even though they say, you know, we understand you're a graduate, but they really are looking for someone with a great, amazing financial foundation.

The hiring process with Mashreq Bank was long and involved several interviews and assessments over weeks. It started out promising, and I was really open. But, right before they were going to make an offer, it all fell apart. The salary they put on the table was way lower than what’s normal for this job and my experience. Plus, they never really explained the benefits clearly. When I asked for some time to look at it and suggested they bring the salary closer to market rates, they just stopped the process without saying why. This was surprising after all the time and effort I put in. It felt pretty unprofessional for a bank like Mashreq. Asking for a fair salary and clear benefits is normal, not something to end things over. I hope they learn from this and make things better for other people applying.

I was initially contacted in Jan/Feb 2018, but then there was silence. In March, I was contacted again for urgent discussions with Sr Management from the Middle East. These discussions went well and I felt good about them, the panel was friendly and professional. Later, a senior HR rep called and asked some standard questions. Despite seeming to be a strong candidate, there was again silence. My suggestion to the company is that if a better candidate is found, it's okay to proceed, but at least inform other candidates. This casual attitude makes me wary.
