So, I had 3 interviews in total. One was a phone call, and the other two were in person. The overall vibe was really positive and friendly. The office space was nice. In my final interview, they had me meet another team member. HR was super responsive afterwards and the whole process went pretty smoothly.

I went through a few interview stages and a test, all of which I passed. I made it to the last interview, which was supposed to be with two people but ended up being just one. The other person had a last-minute family emergency, which was understandable. When the interview started, the person interviewing me didn't seem to know what to ask and then said, 'I'm sorry, I'm not ready to interview you. They just threw me into this interview.' It was supposed to be 45 minutes, but it was only 10-15 minutes because she wasn't prepared. I figured there was no way they wouldn't hire me after that, but a few weeks later, I followed up because I hadn't heard back and was told they had already hired someone else. I told them I was disappointed by their unprofessionalism and that they wasted my time. If they weren't ready for the interview, they should have rescheduled. It felt really unfair. Shortly after, I found out they not only didn't hire me, but they hired someone else from my company, which was a real slap in the face. This really changed my view of Mashable, and I wanted to let others know before they interview with them.

Had a quick recruiter call which was pretty standard and brief, about 8 mins. After that, they sent over a writing assignment that I had to spend several days on which included things like story pitches and feedback on their website. This was a bit unusual compared to my past experiences. The weird part is that after I submitted the assignment, they basically went silent. I followed up but still no confirmation of receipt. Then, weeks later, I got an automated rejection. Made me wonder if they were just trying to get free work done.

Applied online. It took almost two months to hear back. Had a phone screen. Then an in-person interview the following week. Completed an edit test. Was asked for references. After that, I was ghosted. It's interesting how the recruiter was responsive throughout, then just vanished. I guess "ghosting" is the new rejection, and it's bad for the company's image. Mashable, if you're reading this, people who can't say "We picked someone else" shouldn't be recruiters.
