Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mary Kay.
Marketing
It was a phone interview. The interviewer was very nice and made me feel like she wanted me to succeed. I'm not usually a fan of phone interviews, as I find it hard to connect with the interviewer, but this one was pretty personable.
- Can you describe your experience with communication audits and how you would conduct them at our company?
Marketing
I spoke with the CEO of the location in a very casual setting. They gave me a better understanding of my job because the job description was really vague. I had to prepare and deliver a presentation on 3 products, and also evaluate 3 other products regarding their marketing and performance. It involved some basic math. We were given a very limited time to complete these tasks, and I realized it was a way to assess how I perform under pressure, which is a critical skill here. After a few weeks, I confirmed that this is indeed a crucial aspect of the company culture.
- Could you interpret this quote from Mary Kay Ash?
Marketing Assistant
I did not like the interview process. It seemed sketchy and I was unsure what they expected from me. Other people online said it was a scam and it seems to be. They want me to commit so much time and energy and there's no guarantee I can make a living off sales. I would advise people to watch out and use common sense before attempting to sell products.
