Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at martinwolf M&A Advisors.
Analyst
It started with a basic recruiter call. Then, I had a take-home assignment where I had to build an accretive/dilutive merger model. After that, there were two 1-on-1 interviews. One was pretty standard, just a get-to-know-you chat about my background. The other was more technical, with about 5-6 questions, and we also reviewed my homework.
- What are the four main valuation methods?
- Could you explain your take-home assignment?
- Can you tell me about yourself and your experience?
Summer Analyst
Had a great interview experience. I was asked some questions about M&A deals, behaviorals (specifically why I chose investment banking over other fields), and some basic technicals. The interviewer was really nice and we also discussed the company culture and what's expected of interns. Overall, it was a solid experience.
- What are your motivations for pursuing a career in banking?
Analyst
Applied through LinkedIn and got a message from the GM to schedule a call. I thought it was an interview, but they just asked where I lived. They told me I was moving on and sent instructions via email for homework assignments. The assignments were easy overall, but I did have to do an accretion analysis for a merger, which was a bit challenging. I emailed them back the next day. After following up later, I found out I wasn't moving on.
- Homework assignments were the only questions asked, specifically including an accretion analysis of a merger.
