First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Martin-Brower.
Inventory Coordinator
It was a really smooth and simple interview process. The person I spoke with was very professional, and I got a fast response after the first interview. They then scheduled me for an in-person interview. I actually liked the whole experience, even though I didn't end up getting the job.
- Could you explain what cycle counting is?
- What can you tell me about warehouse management systems?
- Can you share some general insights based on your previous work experience?
Supply Chain Analyst
The hiring process begins with a phone call with HR for an initial chat and general profile assessment. Next, a video call via Teams is set up with HR and the direct manager to delve deeper into skills, experience, and job expectations. Finally, an in-person meeting with the second-level manager and the direct manager happens to gauge the candidate's fit with the team and company culture before a decision is made.
- Tell us about yourself. What did you understand about the job opening?
Transportation Supervisor
The company has very old school tactics and wants to hire someone that lives and breathes for them. They have absolute zero regards for work/life balance. At least they were honest when mentioning "you'll be working every single holiday and should be available 24/7,,,your family will hate you for working here" did not sell the job at all and never gave me a compensation number or 'how the schedule works' when asked 2 times. The drivers and workers are monitored and micromanaged. Upon research, the salary for this position is $23-25 an hour!? You could pay me 100K and would still think twice before working at a place like this. The interview lasted almost 2 hours, and I could not find a positive thing to say about wanting to work for this place.
- Tell me about a difficult situation you had to handle.
Quality Analyst
The entire process was done remotely, clearly and objectively to find candidates that best fit the company, as cultural adaptation is very important for the recruiting team. We had easy contact via WhatsApp for any questions. The team was attentive and helpful, the interview with management was very clear about the needs and challenges. I noticed a lot of transparency when talking about the vacancy and what awaited the chosen candidate.
- Specific behavioral questions were asked, given the company's strong culture and the importance of behavioral fit for candidate adaptation.
- Understanding of the area's processes is important, as the company operates in the food distribution sector, which requires high knowledge.
- Knowledge of the food distribution sector is required.
