First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Marsh.
Senior Consultant
The hiring manager was really nice and acted like I already got the job, even giving me his phone number. But then I was ghosted for months. Three months later, the recruiter sent a generic email. The recruiter and hiring manager were both unprofessional, but the other interviewers were great.
- Can you give an example of a time you had to solve an ambiguous problem?
Client Advisor
I applied online for the Client Advisor job. A week later, the recruiter called me for a preliminary phone interview. She asked about my background, what I did in my last job, why I left, and why I wanted to work at Marsh. The call went well, and she said she'd pass my info to the manager. She also told me the salary and asked if it fit my expectations, which I thought was great to know upfront. A week after that, I had an in-person interview with the manager. She asked about my experience and previous duties. She also asked for examples of how I handled conflicts in my last role. She then described the job I was interviewing for and its daily tasks. That interview also went well. The recruiter then set up a second in-person interview with the office head and zone leader. This was the toughest part. The zone leader asked some hard questions and wanted more examples of conflict resolution from my past job. I had to really make my case for why I'd be a good fit and impress them. Two days later, the recruiter contacted me to move forward, which led to an offer. Overall, it was a good experience. I'm happy with my new job and would recommend interviewing with Marsh. It was the most professional and challenging interview process I've been through, and many companies could learn from their approach.
- Could you describe a situation where you successfully resolved a customer's complaint, leading to their satisfaction with both you and the company?
Consultant
First, I met with a recruiter at a virtual job fair. Then, they asked me to do an online recorded video interview. You get questions, have 30 seconds to prep, then the recording starts. You have 3 minutes to answer each question. No do-overs. You can practice to get used to the format. You can watch your responses before the real interview. This is the first step. There are follow-up meetings after this. You don't get an offer or rejection right away, just an email saying thanks. Someone will contact you later about next steps.
- Describe the firm to your friends.
- What experience makes you a good fit for this firm?
- Why are you interested in this firm?
