It was a virtual interview and I found it very easy to get through. I talked about myself, emphasizing my education and previous jobs. The interview lasted about 10-15 minutes. I went over my past job roles and what I was responsible for.
- Can you give an introduction about your past work experience?

Got a referral from an employee I knew, they said good things about working there. Applied on their site, and the recruiter called me within a few days for a quick pre-screen. They asked about my salary needs, why I applied, and for examples of experience relevant to the role. A week later, I had a video interview with two managers. It was a pretty chill interview where they tested my French speaking and writing abilities. Got an offer a week after that and we negotiated terms. Accepted and started a month later, after they did my background check, confirmed my education, and verified my previous employment.

So I think Mercer is a great company and I'd love to work there even though my experience wasn't perfect. The people there seem genuine and caring, which is hard to find. Generally, you apply online, and recruiters at corporate review applications. If they're interested, HR calls to set up a phone interview. Usually, there are a few phone interviews, some aptitude tests, and then either an in-person interview or a HiVue interview if you're remote. My specific interview was 2 hours long with 4 interviewers, and they each had about 30 minutes with me. I'm not sure how effective interviews are when the interviewers are clearly busy with other job responsibilities and might just be doing what helps them keep their job rather than focusing on the applicant. The whole process took about 3 months. I was referred by a respected employee and enjoyed talking with the people I interviewed with. The lack of clarity throughout the interview process was tough. Long story short, I got to two final rounds (the second one was added after the original final round). HR sent me emails with the wrong job description, so I was confused about what job I was actually interviewing for because the emails contradicted each other. Mercer was impressed enough that I was a 'runner-up' for a senior position and even offered to move me to an entry-level role to get started, which I thought was great! But it was weird they didn't ask clarifying questions about my answers or give any feedback after rejecting me twice.
