Submitted application, then had a phone interview which was the first round. The second round was virtual. It was an average interview, nothing unusual for this role. Everything moved fast from the first interview to getting the offer.

The first interview went great. Unexpectedly, the person I was supposed to meet wasn't there, so I spoke with someone else. At the end, they said the next step was to speak with the original person and that they'd follow up with scheduling. I never got any emails or calls. I was really looking forward to speaking with the senior leader since I thought the interview went well. After weeks of silence, I randomly got an email saying they'd chosen another candidate. I'm fine with rejection, but it was disappointing to be told I made it to the next round and then not follow through. They should have just said they'd get back to me instead of giving me false hope. If this is how they treat candidates, I can't imagine how they'd treat employees.
