Arrived 10 mins early, signed in, got a pass, and went to the staff waiting room. Waited about 30 mins, then the warehouse manager came, apologized for the wait, and took me to the interview room. Dropped my bag, had a quick 2 min chat. Then he gave me a tour and explained the role. I had to do a small sorting task, organizing items onto 3 cages. He came back after 5 mins, said no one had finished it. We went through my choices, then I did a customer service role play with another worker scribing. After that, some basic interview questions. He explained more about the position and said I'd hear back within the week. The whole thing took about 1 1/2 hours. It was a nice, relaxed experience. Not sure if I got it, but it felt positive.

So I thought I was applying for a Customer Assistant role with more than 30 hours/week, but when I got there, they told me they actually had a warehouse operative position open with only 26 hours/week. I was a bit disappointed, but I figured I'd go through with the interview anyway. They first showed me around the stock room and the chiller, and demonstrated how to arrange items. Then, we did a tour of the shop, and afterwards, we went back to what looked like an old office. There were two people interviewing me – the manager and another person, maybe a coordinator. They gave me some products to arrange based on criteria like expiration date and whether they needed refrigeration. After that, they presented me with two hypothetical situations and asked how I would respond. They then took a moment to score my answers. It turned out I did well arranging the products, but my answers to the situational questions weren't great. Honestly, I wasn't that keen on the job anyway. I think the role is more suited for individuals who can lift heavy items, which I'm not sure I can do.

I completed a 40-minute online assessment which was pretty straightforward. The key is to focus on customer service in your responses. I got an email immediately after saying I passed and to schedule an in-store assessment. The interview/assessment at the store was about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It began with a discussion about the job, then I was shown the back of the store and the cold room. Following that, there was a product sorting task, organizing by date and weight. It was very easy using plastic cut-outs. The last part was a casual chat with the admin staff to assess flexibility and suitability for the role.
