I was asked about my work experience, my university diploma, and I did some tests that were pretty easy. They also asked me hypothetical questions and we talked about future opportunities and goals. It was a good interview.

So there were like two parts to it. The first was like a general interview where they asked me about my skills, qualifications and experiences and stuff. Then, the second part was like a roleplaying exercise where I had to pretend to be an advisor and help someone buy stuff for a meal.

The application process is quite long, so make sure you have enough time to focus on it. You'll need to answer questions about your personality and hypothetical 'What would you do?' scenarios. A big plus is that if you don't have retail experience, it's not a problem here, which is great for young people. First, the interviewer asked me standard interview questions about my strengths, weaknesses, and what I thought the role entailed. It felt like a casual chat, and the interviewer took notes. Then, I had to do a role-play. I was given some information about Marks and Spencer and their products and had 10 minutes to study it. The interviewer came back, took the papers away, and then a staff member came in pretending to be a customer. I had to use the information I'd just memorized to help the 'customer' find the right product for their needs. I also had to promote special offers and the Food to Order service. The role-play was a bit stressful, but I think it was useful, and it makes sense given how focused Marks and Spencer is on customer service.
