Applied online and got a recruiter email in 24 hours. First, had a phone interview with HR/Recruiter. She didn't know much about the job but said she'd schedule interviews with hiring managers. Sent thank you emails and got a reply about next steps. A week later, had two 1-hour video interviews. The marketing team was great and gave good feedback. Sent thank you emails but got no response. After 3 follow-ups with the recruiter and THREE WEEKS LATER, had another video interview with someone from the sales team. This person had different views than the marketing team and was rude. After 4 hours of interviews and over 2 months, I got an automatic rejection email. They didn't thank me for my time. I spent hours preparing and organizing for these interviews.

I applied online and heard back the next day. The first step was a phone screen with some basic questions and an explanation of the role. A few days later, I went to their downtown office for an in-person interview. I met with four people: someone from HR, the direct manager, a colleague, and the marketing manager. Everyone was friendly, but the company seems a bit disorganized and operates on the fly. I felt the interview itself went well and was very conversational. Based on Glassdoor reviews, it seems like people who've worked at more established companies might not like it here. It seems to attract younger people who are drawn to the 'cool' image of working at Mike's, even if it means a less positive work environment. HR mentioned they'd follow up the following week, but I never heard back. It's disappointing that companies don't even send a basic 'thanks but no thanks' email after taking up a candidate's time. They seemed very focused on finding someone who fits their 'culture,' which was a bit strange. High turnover is likely due to these factors. My overall impression was mixed, but I'm giving a negative rating because of the poor post-interview communication and lack of structure.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process spanned nearly two months and involved five interviews, all of which I felt went very well. After each phone call, I sent a thank you email along with a 90-day plan I'd prepared for the sales territory. I really felt a connection with everyone I spoke to. The final interview was the only in-person one. From the beginning, the interviewer's body language suggested a lack of interest, even though our conversation itself seemed positive. Towards the end, he mentioned they were interviewing other candidates who were mostly already in the Los Angeles sales territory, and my being in Chicago presented a challenge. I wondered why I was being considered if that was an issue. The next day, I was informed I didn't get the job.

After applying, about a month later I got a phone interview that went for about 20 minutes. Then, they offered me an in-person interview and once they confirmed my references, I was offered the job. I met with two people from their HR department and got a really good feel for the company and what their jobs entail. Overall, the position seemed good and the pay was decent, but I'm looking into another opportunity.
