Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at March of Dimes.
Executive Director
The interview process was quite extensive and very thorough. I went through 6 interviews before they decided to move in a different direction. The last interview was a Skype call with a Board member. I couldn't see them, but they could see me. I understood why it was necessary, but I felt uncomfortable not being able to make eye contact. Before this final interview, I thought I was a top candidate.
- What strategies would you use to manage Board members who are underperforming?
Executive Director
After being chosen as a top candidate, I traveled to their main office in New York. There, I met with several high-ranking executives, including the CEO, for interviews.
- Could you state your salary expectations?
Executive Director
It's been a long and drawn-out process, going on 7 weeks now, with week-long breaks in communication. However, overall, everyone has been nice and very clear about expectations and stuff.
- Can you tell me about a time you managed a challenging situation with a direct report, including the steps you took and the result?
