First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MAQ Software.
Intern
The interview kicked off with a common DSA problem: find a peak element. After that, we chatted about the projects I'd listed on my resume. Then came two SQL queries that were kinda medium difficulty. Finally, the interviewer threw in some non-technical questions and about three puzzle-type questions.
- Could you find a peak element in an array?
- Tell me about the projects on your resume.
- Write two SQL queries of medium difficulty.
Technical Support Engineer
The interview process involved an initial recruiter call, followed by a technical screen covering networking concepts like models, TCP vs UDP, topologies, and both basic and advanced cloud computing. They also asked about Microsoft Office 365. Then there was an onsite interview which included discussing a past project and general HR questions. Overall, it was a nice experience.
- Could you elaborate on networking concepts, including basic and advanced cloud computing knowledge?
- Can you discuss networking concepts such as models, TCP vs UDP, and topologies, as well as both basic and advanced cloud computing topics?
- Tell me about your experience with Microsoft Office 365 and cloud computing, both basic and advanced.
Software Development Engineer
The interview process wasn't too bad. For preparation, focus on SQL and Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), especially string manipulations. Also, get familiar with basic cloud concepts and PowerShell. The technical round included an introduction, discussion about the roles and responsibilities based on the job description PDF, a project discussion, questions about React.js (advantages/disadvantages), HTTP vs HTTPS, authentication vs authorization, and cloud computing (definition, reasons for use, and types like IaaS, PaaS, SaaS with examples). SQL questions involved finding duplicate emails with counts from an employee table and identifying departments with over 1000 employees using employee and department tables. DSA questions covered removing duplicate characters from a string, comparing sorting algorithms, and the difference between arrays and linked lists. There was also a puzzle involving two buckets (4L and 5L) to measure 7L.
- Tell me about your understanding of the roles and responsibilities outlined in the job description PDF.
- Can you explain the ACID properties?
- What are the pros and cons of using React.js?
Associate Engineer
So the whole hiring process was like this: First, an Online Assessment with Aptitude and Coding Questions. Then, a Pen and Paper Round where we had two Coding Questions and two SQL Questions to solve (you only needed to get one right from each section). Finally, there was a Technical + HR Interview where they asked a DSA question: code to print the third largest element in an array. They also asked about projects I've done and to explain one in detail, and about extracurriculars outside of academics.
- They asked me to write code to print the third largest element in an array.
