& Process

So there were 3 stages. First, I spoke with HR and the leader who would be my boss. We talked about my past experience and they introduced themselves, and I got to introduce myself to the team, which was cool and saved time. Then, the whole team did a technical interview with me. I presented a case study from my portfolio, walking them through my whole design process. The head of design, my lead, design colleagues, the product manager, and someone from IT were all there. This also saved a lot of interviews. Lastly, there was a cultural fit interview where they dug into my soft skills. After three weeks, they gave me the job offer. Honestly, it was the smoothest process I've had in five years, and I'm super thankful it went down like that.

The hiring process was really smooth and took about four weeks. Each week had one interview: first an intro call, then a case study interview, after that a leadership call, and finally an offer call. They gave me feedback really fast, either the same day or the next business day after each call. The hiring manager was super responsive and friendly the whole time, always happy to answer my questions and asking for my thoughts too. It was a really well-thought-out and respectful process, which gave me a great feel for the company culture and was a big reason I decided to join.

The interview process was really professional, and they gave me feedback at every step. It was a good challenge because the company and the people were so professional. The issue is with the feedback I got when I was rejected. They sent me this, and I'm quoting it exactly, with just a little bit added: "Find here specific details on the reason behind the decision: – Low level of visual design, quite below the ambitions of the company – Little experience working in high-growth modern product orgs, mainly agency or freelance working setup experience with a lower engagement with the engineers – No demonstrated strategic insights or reasoning in terms of shaping the design solutions – Overall, the candidate did not demonstrate the necessary skills or experience in several key areas, including design quality, strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and mobile platform expertise. The quality of his design work did not meet the standards required for our team. My personal recommendation is not moving forward." Since the job was for Spain, I'll say this in Spanish: 'They just lacked saying I'm an idiot....'
