Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Manulife.
Director
I was really impressed with this company's global culture. After going through 6 rounds of interviews and calls for a Director position, I didn't get the offer. I reached out to HR and the hiring manager for feedback on why I was rejected, but I never heard back from them.
- Questions related to strategy and managing people
Director
After submitting my application through Taleo, the interview process involved an initial HR screening, followed by a meeting with the Hiring Manager, and then a Panel Interview with my potential peer group. Throughout the process, the interviewers were very upfront about the company culture. They seemed to value a good fit as much as technical skills, experience, and education. All the interviewers gave a very realistic preview of what the job entails. The overall experience was straightforward and quite fast.
- What are some typical behavioral questions you have experienced in past interviews?
Director
I didn't have the right background for the role, so I didn't get past the first phone screen. The recruiter I spoke with was incredibly professional, the best I've encountered. The phone screen itself was comprehensive, made sense, and was explained clearly. After they narrowed down the candidate list, she personally called me to give me feedback and explain why I wasn't moving forward. I was really impressed with her, and even though I didn't get the job at Manulife, the experience left me with a great impression.
