I had a really good experience during the interview process. First, I had an initial interview with HR. Next, a panel interview with the manager and his colleagues, which felt a bit awkward since four people were interviewing me. Some questions were irrelevant to the job description. Lastly, I had an interview with their Director, and luckily they chose me.

Applied online directly to Manulife and got a phone interview pretty quick, like within 4 days. Had some basic behavior questions, then moved on to a 1:1 with the Hiring Manager. After that, I had a 1:1 with the Director of the team and it was seriously one of the toughest interviews ever. My advice, always be ready for technical questions, especially if it's mentioned in the job description.

The interview was short. They asked about salary expectations. I gave a figure that was within their posted range but below the maximum. They immediately said it was over budget. I was surprised because it was within the range they advertised. The interviewer seemed frustrated, possibly because they've had to explain this budget mismatch before. They weren't interested in hearing my justification for the requested amount, and I decided not to pursue opportunities with this company again. It's frustrating when companies post ranges but then say the amount is outside their budget. It feels like a waste of time.
