First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mantra Health.
Head of People
I applied online. The recruiter let me know she had over 3000 applicants and wanted to make sure she reviewed each one, which was really honest. My chat with the recruiter was great and made me more excited about the company and role. However, my next interview with the interim people leader didn't go well. She was late, kept cutting me off, and wasn't interested in learning about me. Her questions felt robotic, and she spent most of the time talking about herself and why I might not be a good fit. She even made some offensive comments. After that, I told the recruiter I didn't want to continue the process, which is a shame because she's allowed to interview people and gives HR a bad name.
- Can you share a detailed example of a project you finished?
Head of People
The recruiting process was logistically handled well and that's the end of the good parts. I was told during an interview that I seemed "too calming" to "assert myself" in a "typical male startup environment." Huge, huge red flags -- so unfortunate to see a mental health company with such a great mission allow this kind of behavior on their team.
- Tell me about a difficult employee relations situation you handled.
Head of People
Applied on March 14th and then never heard back. I got this email: "Thanks so much for your interest in Mantra Health. We've received your application and will review it within the week. If we see a potential fit, we'll schedule a meeting!" Maybe they reviewed my application within the week, but the least they could have done was tell me "no." Instead I heard nothing. There's no way to contact the team as it was an automated email and attempts to message folks on the team was fruitless.
