First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mainfreight.
Graduate Student
A 3-person panel will discuss your education, work ambition, and strengths/weaknesses. You'll be asked to share stories about times you worked hard and long, and touch on extra-curricular activities. The job and people were the hard parts, not the interview itself.
- Could you describe your goals and aspirations?
- What are your long-term career ambitions?
- Outline your plan for the next five years.
Graduate Programme
I was excited for the role, but the job description for this is too vague as they don't tell you until the interview that you will be working in 10 hour days with 4am starts! And you will be in operations (the warehouse) for at least a year (or the rest of you life!!). I have no idea why any graduate would want this. They are better off being transparent and hiring people with any qualifications. It's not "growth" if you're stuck in operations forever!
- What do you know about Mainfreight?
- Tell us about yourself.
Graduate Program
After applying online and submitting my CV, I got an email about a potential phone interview. We set a date and time, and then the call happened. They asked some general questions about the company and how I thought I'd fit in. Following that, there was a video conference interview because the interviewer was in Melbourne. About two weeks after that, I was given an offer.
- What makes you want to apply to Mainfreight?
- How do you see yourself fitting into Mainfreight's culture, given that our grad program involves learning by doing?
- What motivated your choice of study at university?
