Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MaineGeneral Health.
Registered Nurse
The interview process went smoothly, no issues or complaints. Interviewers asked good questions, explained what they expected clearly, and ran a well-organized, professional, and respectful process. Good job.
- Regarding teamwork, do I work well on a team.
Registered Nurse
The interview process started with a prompt telephone call from the department manager, which was very professional. However, the Human Resources department's process is quite different. It's a lengthy hiring process that requires applicants to complete an online survey sent to their references, of which four are needed. The success of this stage depends on the references completing and returning the survey via the provided email link, which is beyond the applicant's control but crucial for hiring. It would be more efficient if HR contacted the references directly instead of involving the applicant. This drawn-out process can leave a bad impression and might cause applicants to accept offers from other employers due to the delay.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded your regular job responsibilities to benefit your patients?
Registered Nurse
The first interview was with the unit manager, and it was pretty fast and simple to schedule. If they think you're a really good fit, you'll probably have at least one more interview with some of your potential coworkers, like 2 to 4 of them. For my peer interview, I met with 2 charge nurses, but they weren't the ones I'd actually be working with. These peer interviewers have a list of questions they ask everyone. They mostly want to know about teamwork, how you handle customers, your worst customer interactions, and how you dealt with tough situations.
- Tell me about a time you had to work as part of a team.
- Can you describe your customer service skills?
- What was your most challenging customer experience and how did you manage it?
