The first interview was with the hiring manager and another manager. Then, there was a second interview with a group of peers. They asked questions that were given to them directly from Human Resources. Most of them were basic questions, like how to handle a difficult time working with a co-worker, or how you work with a team.

I rated this as difficult primarily because the process took a long time. The office needed to fill a position right away, and even though we tried to move quickly, it was still a month from my first interview to when I started. It began with a quick phone screening, which led to a one-on-one interview with a Lead PSR. After those initial interviews, I had a panel interview with three people from different departments, which they called a Peer Interview. The second and third interviews were quite long, and they really wanted detailed, well-thought-out examples from my past work. Everyone I interviewed with was nice and respectful. The questions and general feel of the interviews are pretty standard for a patient service role. Since you'll be interacting with the public in a medical setting, they want to know if you can be empathetic, polite, and professional while also protecting patient information. Be prepared to share stories about dealing with difficult people and how you defused a situation to get a good result. These kinds of situations are really common in healthcare, and it was clear they were looking for someone who could handle them well.

The first interview was with the unit manager, and it was pretty fast and simple to schedule. If they think you're a really good fit, you'll probably have at least one more interview with some of your potential coworkers, like 2 to 4 of them. For my peer interview, I met with 2 charge nurses, but they weren't the ones I'd actually be working with. These peer interviewers have a list of questions they ask everyone. They mostly want to know about teamwork, how you handle customers, your worst customer interactions, and how you dealt with tough situations.
