First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MAGNA.
Manufacturing Engineer
I had one phone call with the recruiter, then two in-person interviews with the hiring manager and the engineering team. The second interview included a casual chat on the floor where the hiring manager showed me current technical issues and asked how I'd resolve them.
- Tell me about your PFMEA implementation experience and how it relates to your AutoCAD work on factory layouts.
Engineering Co-Op
They look at your resume and cover letter first to see if you have taken the right classes and done any cool projects. Then, there's a quick call or video chat to see if you can talk well and if you're really interested. After that, you'll do a technical test, which could be a live coding challenge or a take-home assignment, depending on what kind of engineering it is. The last interview is with the hiring manager and some team folks to talk more about how you solve problems, stuff you've done before, and how you work with others. They try to get back to you fast with decisions and offers so you don't lose interest, and they want it to feel welcoming and give you a sense of the company vibe.
- Can you give an example of an engineering concept and explain your approach to solving a problem using it?
Quality Analyst
Had a direct interview with the Manager, via Google Meet. They were transparent and detailed with information. The interview lasted about 45 minutes. The manager had good knowledge and clearly explained the company's benefits.
- Why did you choose Magna?
- Can you describe a successful case in your professional journey?
- What will you contribute to the company?
Material Manager
It was a straightforward and typical interview. They asked standard behavioral questions like 'Tell me about yourself,' 'Why do you want to leave your current job?', 'What are the challenges you face in your current role?', and 'What are your strengths and weaknesses and how do you manage them?'. There was also a technical aspect where they inquired about my leadership skills.
- Can you discuss your leadership abilities?
