First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Magna International.
Engineer
You might have a quick chat with the recruiter, then a single interview with the hiring manager, either in person or online. They'll ask easy questions about your experience, skills, and if you'd fit in with the team. No hard tests or lots of interviews.
- Can you explain what GD&T stands for and what they entail?
Packaging Engineer
First, there was a quick chat with HR. Then, I had an interview with a current Packaging Engineer and the WCM manager. They asked some technical questions to assess my problem-solving abilities and some project management questions. There was also a calculation-based question. I didn't get any feedback for 1.5 months after this. The third round felt like a repeat of the second, just with a different Packaging Engineer. The questioning was similar. I got the offer the next day.
- Regarding stacking a pack of given dimensions in a semi truck, what is the number of packs that can be stored as a TL?
- Could you solve a technical problem and manage a project?
- Tell me about your project management skills.
Project Engineer
It was a really fast process. First, a short phone call (about 10 mins) where they asked why Magna, went over my background check, and quickly followed up on my resume regarding past work and academic projects, and also my salary expectations. Then, an in-person interview happened just two days later with the Senior Program Manager and an HR generalist. I got the offer of employment the day after that.
- Could you share an instance where you stepped up to lead a team when your supervisor or team lead was unavailable?
- Tell me about yourself.
- What was your leadership experience like in the XYZ society or club?
