Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Magellan Research Group.
Associate
It started with a phone screening, then went to an onsite interview, then another phone interview, and finished with a final onsite interview. There was a case study that I had 15 minutes to complete, followed by questions. The people I talked to seemed really interested in what I had to say and were nice. The bad part was having 2 onsite interviews and not getting help with expenses.
- What is your understanding of this role?
- What makes you the right candidate for this job?
- Can you present your case study and answer follow-up questions?
Associate
The interview had 3 stages in total. The first two rounds went great, but the last round was with the company's Managing Director. You'd think the MD would be professional, but they weren't. They seemed unprepared and disorganized. I was asked random questions like 'What do your parents do for a living?', which I don't think relates to the job at all. Plus, the MD was yawning, which isn't a good sign during an interview. As long as you don't get interviewed by the MD, you'll probably be fine because the other people I met from the company seemed much nicer and more professional.
- Could you tell me what your parents do for a living?

The interview process went well. All the questions they asked were what you would expect of a sales role. Nothing unexpected. I had a chance to ask questions at the end. Make sure to take advantage of the opportunity so you know what to expect out of the job.
- Can you describe a sales call?
